Montessori Scholars Academy is a private school that follows the Montessori method of education. The Montessori method was developed by Maria Montessori and is focused on fostering independence, self-motivation, and a love of learning in children.
Montessori Scholars Academy (MSA) is dedicated to the highest standards of pedagogical practices for your children. Our school focuses on teaching your child the skills necessary to succeed in the technologically ever-changing world we live in. We have obtained SACS Advanced accreditation, which helps demonstrate our dedication to the advancement of your children in our educational program.
Montessori Scholars Academy Philosophy
We seek to consistently serve children in a safe and nurturing educational environment by challenging and inspiring their individual quest for knowledge and skill, and by empowering the development of their self-discipline and self-confidence.
Research demonstrates that the period of life between birth and age six is the most influential in defining a child’s personality and ability to learn. During this period of time, life-long patterns are established, and the skills acquired become the foundation that will be the basis for their future independence. Dr. Montessori calls this attribute of a child the "absorbent mind".
The primary classrooms are divided into four areas of learning, which are: practical life, sensory, language, and mathematics.
Montessori Curriculum
At Montessori Scholars Academy we follow the Montessori Method created by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago. Her method and curriculum has stood the test of time. Over the years, parts of this model have been adopted by mainstream early learning centers. We believe that Dr. Montessori’s method of presenting the curriculum fosters independence, critical thinking, self confidence, and above all, a lifelong love of learning. Each of our classrooms has authentic Montessori materials with Montessori credentialed Lead Guides. The Lead Guide guides the child through the areas of the classroom at their own pace. The Guide has the wonderful freedom to observe what the child is or children are interested in learning and create lessons for the classroom specific to this topic. This freedom keeps the children interested in learning new information throughout the academic year. Leaders of Learning: Montessori Educators
All of the Montessori Scholars Academy Lead Guides hold a Montessori credential in their respective areas of expertise. In order to obtain this credential, the teachers must attend and successfully complete the entire training program offered at designated training centers for their specific level (e.g., nido, toddler, primary, elementary). The Guide must also complete a practicum. The Montessori Lead Guides and teachers work hard to foster independent, self-motivated learners. The prepared environment created by the Montessori Leads engage hands-on activities that develop critical thinking and creativity in your child. Our faculty emphasize individualized learning, helping each student progress at their own pace.
